Throughout Scandinavia, there is a low crime rate compared to many other places in the world. However, in Stockholm and Copenhagen, petty crime such as pickpocketing and bag snatching continues to increase, especially in tourist areas and during the summer months.
Scandinavia is still the world’s happy place, firmly holding on to the top 3 of the World Happiness Report in 2020. Finland, Iceland and Denmark were named as the world’s three happiest countries in the study that is based on surveys by Gallup as well as developmental indicators.

Besides the happiest countries, the World Happiness Report also looked at the places where people are the saddest. South Sudan was named the unhappiest place in the world, followed by Central African Republic, Afghanistan, Tanzania and Rwanda.

The Nordic Model works in Scandinavia because it’s in Scandinavia. It’s a whole system, not just a few policies, that makes life in Scandinavian countries more like a shared journey. There are, no doubt, things that the rest of the world could learn from the region.

The Scandinavian countries are considered socialist countries and socialism does not prevent social and economic problems faced by their citizens.
