Fugaku was the only person who Itachi thought would not be able to kill. So the chances are Fugaku is stronger than Itachi, as we know when Fugaku was alive Itachi has just got the Mangekyo Sharingan , but on the other hand fugaku got it a long time ago and must have mastered it pretty well.

What if Itachi helped Fugaku?

If Itachi chooses to help the Uchiha family (instead of Konoha), what will happen? War would likely break out due to Fugaku and Itachi both having MS. Shisui would have already been killed by Danzo.
