Where do we use chicken mesh in plastering in construction?

To prevent crack in plastering work we use chicken mesh at junction of different material such between wall and column junction where coefficient of thermal expansion of different material is different and due to that chances of crack after plastering is bound to occur that’s why we use chicken mesh.

Which mesh is best for plastering?

When using for plastering, plaster layer and the reinforcing metal layer have different thermal expansion coefficient. Therefore, subject to extreme changes in temperature, chicken wire (durable twisted woven mesh – no rigid mesh) is more acceptable for plastering than welded wire mesh or expanded metal.

Can you do plaster over drywall?

Plaster veneer may also be applied to ordinary drywall, or over existing walls, but this requires “gluing” the existing wall surface by painting on a special adhesive compound, and then applying a thin layer of “base coat” plaster.
