My general rule for Glocks is to replace the recoil spring every 3000 rounds. A worn-out recoil spring tends to bottom out hard, which batters the hell out of the rest of the gun. For milder cartridges like 9mm, you might be able to stretch that to 5000 rounds, but why push your luck?
