7700k is a fine enough cpu to hold you over. I just upgraded from a 7700k to a 10700k only because it and the mobo died, so I had to get something new. The difference in gaming between the 7700k and 10700k is not noticeable. Wait a few months and see what Zen 3 and Intel 11th gen bring.
