It definitely feels like they’re WAY overselling Vader in the new canon given what we already saw on-screen in the OT. If Vader can wipe out a whole squadron (let alone two) by himself, why, when there’s so much at stake in ANH, does he dick around picking them off one at a time? There is ZERO reason for him to dither and do this the hard way.
