What does the military do for our country?

The Army exists to serve the American people, defend the nation, protect vital national interests and fulfill national military responsibilities. Our mission is enduring: to provide necessary forces and capabilities to the combatant commanders in support of the national security and defense strategies.

Why should one not join Army?

It is not money, it is not benefits or anything else, but this very passion that helps people succeed in this field. If you feel you do not have that kind of passion, determination and selflessness to serve the country, then you shouldn’t join the Armed Forces as you will never be able to succeed in this profession.

Is the army really worth it?

The Army is one of the best-paying jobs you can find if you don’t have a degree. Compared to an entry-level job that requires a degree, the Army pays just as well, if not better. These soldiers are not broke because of what they get paid.

With honesty, I want to serve my motherland and with love praise it everywhere. Being in an army it is full of adventures which interests me. Soldiers protect many lives and well being of others. Soldiers are dutiful, alert and punctual and I too possess these qualities which qualifies me to become a soldier.

Why is youth not joining the military?

Parental pressure and peer pressure are critical aspects on the basis of which the young citizens hesitate to join the Forces. Parents worry about their child’s future and safety when thinking of the Indian Army as a career option. Hence, they are not too keen on pushing their children towards a harsher life.

Being a soldier is a dangerous job, although most soldiers have not been seriously harmed in recent wars. The risks are bigger for soldiers in the infantry or another front line job, and smaller for those with other kinds of army job. There is no army job that is completely safe.

Can you quit the military?

There is no way to simply quit the military once you are on active duty. You are contractually, and perhaps morally, obligated to see your commitment through. However, you could be discharged from duty early if you are physically or psychologically unable to perform your duties.
