You Have a D7000

  1. Choice #1: Buy a D7500 if you’re happy with what you’ve got but just want the latest and greatest.
  2. Choice #2: Buy a D500 if you’re happy with what you’ve got in terms of camera but want to update your equipment and get the best possible body quality and performance, and you shoot moving objects a lot.

The D700 has 16.2 megapixels (12.3), shoots at up to ISO 6400 (3200) in regular mode, captures 1080p video (720p) at 24fps. More surprisingly, both have magnesium alloy bodies and 100\% coverage in the viewfinder (both pentaprisms, not dimmer mirrors).

Is Nikon D7000 good for photography?

The Nikon D7000 handled tough outdoor lighting under harsh sunlight pretty well, and produced good overall color and exposure. The default contrast setting was a bit on the high side (as most users prefer), but shadow and highlight detail in the “sunlit” Portrait shot shown above was quite good.

Is the Nikon D7000 still a good choice?

Thank you so much. Unless you have Nikon Acquisition Syndrome (like most of the folks here) the D7000 is plenty good. Just make sure your lenses are up-to-par. Just start shooting and if you feel the need to upgrade, get a D7500!

Should I upgrade from a Nikon D7200 to a D7500?

The D7500 is no better than the D7200 in that regard, so a D7200 would be the sweet spot for an upgrade should you choose to go that route. But you probably wouldn’t notice much difference in everyday use. Thank you Pa… I think I’ll stick with the D7000 for now…

What is the best alternative to the Nikon D500?

D7200 is a most viable alternative, but is a bit aged as evidenced by the D7500 emergence. I really like the 16-80 VR which is bundled with the D500. Nikon has a quite attractive, aggressive price on the bundle. The D7500 body with the same lens would cost MORE than the D500 bundle.

How to get value for money with a Nikon D500?

To get “value for money” from a D500 ideally you need to do plenty of photography where the much improved AF (over 51 point) is an advantage. More information might point to either the D500 or D750, or maybe a D7200 as a front runner. Some say if some of your photos are not good the camera you use is only a recording device.
